A medical parts distributor was in need of a field surgical device. The tool was to be made of plastic that would seal to keep the parts sterile. For that reason, the part could not be made with injection molded plastics. It required milled plastic.
Boyer specializes in both metal and plastic milling. In this case, the parts were finely threaded so they screwed tightly together to seal the sterile insertion part. Three parts were milled so they had a twist gripper for easy opening of the device. In total, Boyer milled seven plastic parts for the medical assembly.
Boyer cleaned all the parts ultrasonically and then assembled and packaged them for sterile delivery.
